Oats may boost nutritional profile of gluten free dietsAdding oats to a gluten-free diet may enhance the nutritional values of the diets, particularly for vitamins and minerals as well as increasing antioxident levels, says a recent study from Scandanavia.
According to the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, GF oats were found to increase the levels of vitamin B1, magnesium and zinc during six months of an oat-enriched gluten-free diet.
Gluten-free diets have been shown to be deficient in nutrients in some of the patients. Results from the new study show that 100g of oats per day may increase intakes of various nutrients in adult coeliac patients in remission.
